EMIH opens Synagogue Week with Sólet Festival again this year

It has become a tradition that at the turn of August and September, the Association of Hungarian Jewish Communities (EMIH) organizes its large-scale series of events, Synagogue Week, which runs this year again for two weeks from August 27 to September 10. Attendees get a taste of the inexhaustible wealth of Jewish culture in several locations and with a diverse program of events, according to EMIH.

Each event of Synagogue Week is valuable in its own right, but when they are all thematized and combined into a series for the end of summer, they can provide an authentic and appealing representation of the role of Judaism in Hungary:

„Whether it is about religious activities or culture, community organizing or gastronomy, Synagogue Week is for everyone who is interested and open-minded, and perhaps ready to discover all that Judaism represents in Hungary,” the organizers write.

The Sólet Festival is now being organized for the eighth time as the opening event of Synagogue Week, where thousands of servings of this traditional Jewish stew will be prepared. And this year, local stars will also be showing off their culinary skills.

Those interested can taste sólet prepared by Réka Farkasházi, Linda Király and Áron Kovács. The event will be held in the courtyard of the RaM-ArT Theatre in Újlipótváros on August 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
