Israel’s 10th President Reuven Rivlin was the guest of honor at a gala dinner celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Chabad Jewish community, according to the Embassy of Israel in Hungary.

At the event, Ambassador Yacov Hadas-Handelsman and the former president both expressed their gratitude to the Hungarian government for creating a peaceful environment for Jews to live in.

Rivlin had not been to Budapest in an official presidential capacity, although in 2018, he met Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in Israel.
