EMIH – Association of Hungarian Jewish Communities has expressed its support for the Jewish community in Ukraine. Chief Rabbi Shlomo Köves offered the President of the Union of Jewish Communities in Ukraine, Meir Stambler, the support of the Hungarian Jewish community, and promised Rabbi Wilhelm Mendel of Uzhhorod that if necessary, members of the Transcarpathian community will be provided with longer-term care in Hungary.

The EMIH – Association of Hungarian Jewish Communities and Chief Rabbi Shlomo Köves are following the developments in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict with great concern. Anatevka

The Chief Rabbi of EMIH has also contacted the head of Anatevka near Kiev. Anatevka, named after the village of the milkman from the musical Fiddler on the Roof, was established in 2015 via donations, at the initiative of Rabbi Shmuel Azman of Kiev, for Jewish families fleeing the fighting in eastern Ukraine at the time. The settlement near Kiev is home to hundreds of Jewish refugees from eastern Ukraine and has been hosting additional refugees since the conflict resumed.
